I have to say that the phenomenon was pretty special and something I'll remember for a long time. Everything was just yellow, it felt like we were in a different place.
Spectacular ... and yes, otherworldly. I just looked at Lucy Corrander's posts about it: caused by smoke, but also sand from the Sahara! We sometimes have smoke from forest fires to the west, but never sand. Impressive how far it traveled.
Yes it was quite interesting this year. We get a smattering of sand from the Sahara each year, often seen covering cars. Followed by the warning not to wash the cars as it will damage the paint, but just to wait for the rain to gently wash the sand away!
Wow, that's pretty impressive! They covered your weird orange and yellow skies on our news over here. That must have been an amazing sight to see!
