As kids we called this badge plant, as we would break off pieces and stick "badges" on each other's clothes, thanks to the hooked hairs :) Now I know it as bedstraw. Ours (G. aparine, triflorum) are not particularly fragrant.
What an excellent game. It's similar to using horsetails as lego :) I don't remember playing with plants much as a kid - mainly just daisy chains and sticking cleavers to each others backs!
Around here "cleavers" is another name for Galium aparine, one of our badge plants, so maybe we played similar games. Horsetail lego sounds intriguing, we will give it a try :)
