It's taken us 2 and a half years to complete all of the caches within the small town of Melksham where we live. You may find it surprising that it's taken us so long, seeing as there's only 16 actually in Melksham itself.
The reasons for this are that we felt it best to leave the ones closest to us for those times when we don't want to go out and complete caches rings. Also for the times when we don't really feel like venturing far, either due to time, energy or illness, but do still want to do something.
So if we'd have gone out and completed all of these caches when we first moved in, we'd have had none near us to do while I've not been feeling so well. In that way, I think we made a good choice.
Anyway, it feels great to have Melksham completed for now. 'For now?' I hear you ask! Well over time while some caches will remain in play, others will be archived and hopefully new ones will be added. That's one of the great things about Geocaching, it's a game in real time and new game pieces are added all of the time!
Sounds so much fun! I've been looking into this lately and know there are 2 in my village so should be fun to hunt them down some time this summer :)
ReplyDeleteIt's really good fun, you definitely should try to hunt those down! There tend to be nice and easy ones that you don't really need a GPS for in supermarket car parks and train stations!
DeleteAhhhh another geo-cacher! I keep meaning to get into it properly, but never seem to find enough time...
ReplyDeleteHi, one of the great things about Geocaching is that they can normally be found wherever you're going to be. Therefore if you don't have much time for it then you can start by caching where you're going to be anyway, rather than going out of your way to find them :)
