In the garden - March

I thought it might be quite nice to upload some photos each month of what's happening in our garden. As things are really starting to burst into life again, March seemed like the ideal time to begin!

Now, as with everything on this blog you just have to take it as you find it! As you'll know by now, there's nothing professional about this blog, just down to earth stuff. So you'll have to forgive the weeds and the fact that I don't know what all the plants are called! I'm sure my ideas for this segment will develop as the months go on, but for now it's a bit of a photo dump for our garden this March.

The willow fence to the left, with the compost bin behind. The Buddleja has responded well to the pruning this year after not really doing much last year. The male and female parts of the Willow in the photos below.

Our new self-pollinating apple trees! We've also planted out the rhubard, which was previously in a terracota pot, in the hope that it will respond well. In the pot it would get to around 20cm and the stems would then wilt. Fingers crossed!

Just as we were about to leave to visit family the Victoria plum decided to really come along. It's a very reliable crop, it's just a shame that we've missed the bud burst this year. Hopefully some blossom will be left for when we're back home next week.

Lucy's herb garden!

Another reliable member of the garden. Our rose has responded really well to my pruning.

One of the vegetable raised beds. Onions and carrots in this one.

A bit of late pruning on the levendar unfortunately. Hopefully it will bounce back.

The hedge that we planted as bare root last year towered up. I've pruned it low in the hope that it will bush out at the bottom and grow into a good boundary.
