First Time Find

Today we had the excitement of having our second FTF (First Time Find).  Without having the premium membership, it's not something that generally happens very often. In fact this is only our second in 233 finds!

Lucy was having a random look at Geocaching.com and came across a couple that we hadn't done in our home town. She saw one that had been found, but only placed a couple of days ago. Then she found one placed yesterday, but not yet found! Much commotion followed and she scrambled to find the GPS, running around looking in the cars before finding it pretty much where she started looking.

We drove and parked as close as we could and slowly wandered to the spot. It was definitely worth the commotion. Not only were we the FTF, but there was also a cool Owl called Ollie awaiting collection. Ollie, being nocturnal wants to visit night caches the most, but also thinks it will be a hoot to find as many caches as possible, he'll be fun to move along. We also had the pleasure of meeting another Geocaching couple going by the name Gralorns. They came along just after we'd signed the log and we worried them a bit as they thought we might be muggles. We had a nice chat and they gave us co-ords to another cache close by and after coming to a mutual agreement about our disdain for puzzle caches that are too difficult we both went on our separate ways - hopefully we'll meet up again some day.

Here's a video of the very cool Ollie - definitely up in the high ranks of my favorite Travel Bugs!

  1. I'm in the Owl Wood Badge Patrol (Boy Scouts--adult leader training). I'd love to get an owl like that. Where'd you get it (the owner get it)??
Please email (rsiegel201@aol.com) & let me know. Thanks!
